Be a Pirate! has 15 recruitable pirate captains, each with permanent bonuses and individual upgrade paths. Your active captain rides aboard your ship into battle.

Your Crew and Their Stories

Captains have personal ties to the maps you defend. Their voiced narration follows captured crewmates, debts, and grudges against the Crown as battles unfold.

At Rogue's Rest, beating the map rescues Scarlet Wench and completes Find the Quartermaster. For more location objectives, see the maps overview.

Recruitment and Captain Battle Objectives

Recruitment milestones track how many captains you have brought aboard. Two further achievements require victories on Captain difficulty with particular captains in command.

Find the Quartermaster	Beat Rogue's Rest and rescue Scarlet Wench.
Welcome Aboard	Recruit your first captain.
A Proper Crew	Recruit 5 captains.
Red Raine's Rogues	Recruit all 15 captains.
Home Waters	Win a battle on Captain with that map's own captain in command.
Every Captain's Tale	Win a battle on Captain with each of the 15 captains in command.

Home Waters requires matching the captain to their own map. Every Captain's Tale requires a Captain-difficulty victory with every captain in command; its condition does not specify their home maps.
